About Digital Education, Postgraduate Diploma - at School of Education, University of Leeds

The PGDip in Digital Education is a part-time online distance learning course designed for professionals (for example teachers or learning technologists) wishing to further their expertise or change the direction of their career.

The programme will introduce you to knowledge, skills, and perspectives on current research in digital education. You will have opportunities to apply and reflect on this new knowledge in relation to both your own learning and to your professional contexts.

In a field where research can often overstate conclusions from short-term interventions, you will learn to approach research critically and develop skills to carry out research projects and evaluations in your own professional settings.

You will also understand theories of learning underpinning effective use of digital tools; have skills to use and evaluate technologies that are currently available, and be able to look towards future developments in the field.

The dialogic online distance learning delivery of the programme, with both material from tutors and regular student discussions, will provide a balance of opportunities to receive expertise from academic staff and also to learn from each other.

On completion of the programme you will have developed skills and knowledge which allow you to:

  • demonstrate a critical understanding of theories and perspectives relevant to digital education
  • take a proactive and self-reflective role in working and to develop professional relationships with others
  • proactively formulate ideas and hypotheses and to evaluate these
  • evaluate critically current issues and research in digital education.
