If you would like to study for a degree in management, accounting and finance, human resource management, economics or international business at university, but don't currently meet the typical entry requirements for direct entry to a degree, then this extended degree is for you.
The foundation year provides a supportive environment where you can make the transition to university study and gain the academic knowledge and study skills you'll need to succeed.
On successful completion of the foundation year component, and subject to meeting the specific requirements for progression, you'll continue to year two of your chosen degree course in Leeds University Business School.
The foundation year component comprises the first two years of the programme, taught by the Lifelong Learning Centre. From your initial enquiry and throughout your studies with us you'll benefit from our student support service, which provides advice and guidance, academic skills support, welcome events and social events.
BSc Business Studies with Foundation Year is a four-year extended degree, designed for applicants who don't currently meet the typical entry requirements for direct entry to a degree and who can benefit from a programme that begins with a foundation year which provides intensive, well-structured support. The programme is part of the University's commitment to widening participation and this is reflected in the non-academic entry criteria.
In your two years with the Lifelong Learning Centre you'll gain an understanding of the key aspects of business studies.
Once you've successfully completed your foundation year and met your progression goals, you'll progress directly onto your chosen degree programme. The Lifelong Learning Centre team remains on hand to help you make the transition to degree-level study.
The Business Studies with Foundation Year programme is a full-time, four year course which allows you to follow one of five pathways. Each pathway allows you to study towards a full honours degree from Leeds University Business School.
During the first two years all five pathways involve core modules introducing you to integrated skills for business, innovation and enterprise, and marketing and there are also specific pathway modules.
These first two years have been designed to offer you academic, personal and professional development in a supportive and encouraging environment. This will help to ensure that you have the academic knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in the third and fourth years of study.
These are typical modules/components studied and may change from time to time. Read more in our Terms and conditions.
