About Development Planning Research, MSc - at Henley Business School, University of Reading

The programme is similar to the MSc Development Planning programme but it allows students to deepen their research skills through supported work on a 10,000-word dissertation. Like the MSc Development Planning, it is fully accredited by the RTPI and the RICS under the relevant partnership arrangements. The programme is also underpinned by a 'development planning' specialism which sees planning as a process of intervention in development processes at all levels, from the local to the European. This specialism is built around three other thematic 'pillars' that explore the ways in which development planning interacts with: 'markets', 'environment' and 'place'.

The programme contains 8 core modules:

• The Built and Natural Environment


• Planning for Places


• Planning Theory, Institutions and Politics


• Real Estate Economics


• Planning Projects (inc. Regional and European Field Visits)


• Real Estate Development


• Research Methods


• Dissertation (Double module)

Entry Requirements

A good first degree or its equivalent in a cognate discipline. Relevant practical or research experience is useful but not essential.
