About Speech as the highest mental function in the theory of Lev Vygotsky at Russian State University for the Humanities

The course focuses on the understanding of the process of human ontogenesis from the standpoint of cultural-historical psychology L.S. Vygotsky and the role of speech as the highest mental function in it. Course objectives are to make students familiar with Russian experimental researches aimed at studying such types of speech as autonomous, egocentric and internal; with the stages of the formation of speech as a psychological mediator of transforming the natural functions into a higher mental functions, cultural one; the role of the preverbal period in the formation of speech as a psychological mediator
