About CODE University of Applied Sciences

*WELCOME TO CODE!*

When CODE was founded three years ago we had one simple question: Why is contemporary tech education so alienated from students’ and modern industry’s needs?

We live in a world where digital technologies form societal and economic realities and yet educational institutions around the world don't recognize the shift in the education that we all need to do.

As entrepreneurs and educators, we saw an opportunity for CODE – a place where passion for digital technologies driven by curiosity pushes the boundaries of what a university can and should do every day.

There is so much more we can do on our mission to educate the digital pioneers of tomorrow and change education for the better – but we can’t do it alone. We need you on our side!

*First things first, what is actually CODE?*

CODE is a state-accredited private University of Applied Sciences in Berlin that offers three Bachelor’s Degree programs: Software Engineering, Interaction Design, and Product Management.

We are an international and inclusive learning environment, and we aim to attract digital pioneers from all over the world and empower them to live up to their full potential.

While studying at CODE, we want you to develop your creativity, nurture your critical thinking, practice collaboration, and teamwork. We want you to be curious in curiosity-driven learning and community setting.

We’ve identified six key aspects of education at CODE that might be different from traditional educational institutions: creative problem-solving, entrepreneurial mindset, collaboration, communication, curiosity, critical judgment, and techno-literacy.

At CODE, we value the self-reflection that is necessary to make pioneering decisions. By providing curiosity-driven, project-oriented, collaborative, and interdisciplinary learning journeys, our students are getting prepared to succeed in a complex and rapidly-changing world. We want to make a positive impact on society by educating students who will, in turn, shape the digital world.

What students think about CODE University of Applied Sciences

    CODE's concept of freedom

Testimonial from CODE's concept of freedom, student at CODE University of Applied Sciences

I chose to study at CODE because I liked the concept of freedom - that I can work on stuff I like and thereby can study while working on my business. Also, I really liked the sort of people who applied to CODE. They are all special and have something that drives them. It’s great to be in such an environment. Because in the end, you are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with.

    A unique learning style

Testimonial from A unique learning style, student at CODE University of Applied Sciences

One of my many reasons for choosing to study at CODE is the unique learning style. I was intrigued by the idea of creating my own learning path with the support of experienced and caring individuals. My favorite thing about studying Software Engineering is the endless opportunities and a variety of learning paths there are. I love that I can explore different routes before finding and settling for something that suits me.

    - Suad Kamardeen, Software Engineering Student at CODE

    A total culture shock!

Testimonial from A total culture shock!, student at CODE University of Applied Sciences

The teacher-student relationship at CODE was a total culture shock to me. To call the teachers by their first names with no prefix? And they actually treat you like equal adults? Damn, am I still getting used to it. Everyone is so friendly and always there for you; it's quite comforting. No matter how bad you fail, the faculty always encourages you to dust yourself off and get up. Every student also gets a personal mentor chosen from the team to help you with any academic or even personal problems that you may have!

Accommodation Information for Students

There is no residence facility on campus. What? Well, in Berlin we cultivated the idea of Wohngemeinschaft or short WG, a common apartment in which you live with other students and split the rent. But this arrangement not only about saving money. Is so much more! It's about togetherness. About sharing mutual goals and ideas! It's about living with your future best buddies and living in a community! Curious? Well, you don't know until you know!

Also, CODE is a part of the studierendenWERK Berlin, a service providing support for student housing around Berlin. So you won't be left all alone in the search for a flat, well a WG!
