Electrical power and energy is vital in today's society and particularly with the push for renewables there is a need for engineers and scientists with the skills in advanced electrical technologies. Electrical power and energy involves generation, transmission and distribution of electrical energy reliably and efficiently to meet consumer demands. New environmentally friendly and sustainable sources of electricity such as wind farms, wave farms, bio-mass generators and other novel technologies are being explored and implemented. Students will study these aspects, and will have access to one of the few remaining high-voltage laboratories in the UK.
One of the unique features of the MEng in Electrical Power and Energy is a six-month industrial placement starting in the summer between Levels 4 and 5 which runs until the end of the first semester in Level 5
