When you decide to apply to do a PhD with us, there are 2 different routes you can take:

If you've got your own research idea, you can find a supervisor in our PURE Research Portal, and contact them directly to discuss your project in detail.

2. Find a project

After you graduate
When you graduate with a PhD from the University of Portsmouth, you'll have a body of work and a prestigious qualification that can open doors to further research study – or to senior roles in your industry.
When you finish your PhD, our Careers and Employability service can help you put your skills to work in a rewarding career within your chosen field.

An upper second-class honours degree in a relevant subject, or master's in a relevant subject. Equivalent professional experience and/or qualifications will be considered. All shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend an interview.
English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 with no component score below 6.0.
