From exploring the fascinatingly intricate nervous system and gaining insight into neurological conditions such as Parkinson's disease to examining the mind and behaviour more generally, our Royal Society of Biology accredited programme will provide you with broad subject-specific knowledge and advanced skills in communication, research and critical thinking to advance in the field of the biosciences.
Why study this course at Keele?
Neuroscience is a constantly evolving discipline that explores the brain, from how it enables us to sense and move through our environment, to degeneration in health and in disease. With more than 11 million people in the UK living with a neurological condition (Brain Research UK), understanding how the brain and nervous system work is integral to the future of human health and well-being.
Our Royal Society of Biology accredited programme explores two intrinsically linked scientific areas of study to provide you with a grounding in the key principles of neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, neuropharmacology, and neuropathology, whilst also investigating cognitive neuroscience, human social interaction and lifespan development.
During the programme you will receive research training in experimental design, practical techniques and data analysis. This will culminate in the opportunity to undertake a final year research project (laboratory or computer based) under expert guidance of our Neuroscience teaching staff.
Please see the course page on the Keele website for full details.
