About Keele

Keele University was established in 1949 by the former Vice-Chancellor of Oxford University. Founded to meet the needs of a changing world, Keele has always had a pioneering vision to be a different kind of university.

We excel in both teaching and research, with some of the most satisfied students in England, and research that is changing lives for the better at a regional, national and global level.

Our beautiful 600-acre campus is one of the biggest in Britain – but all the most important services and facilities are on your doorstep, with accommodation, teaching spaces, facilities including a medical centre, sports centre and pharmacy, and a range of shops, eateries and entertainment venues – including the Students’ Union – clustered around the centre.

Where is Keele?

Located in the Staffordshire countryside, but within easy reach of the bustling town of Newcastle-under-Lyme, and the vibrant city of Stoke-on-Trent, Keele offers the best of both worlds: a close-knit campus community and an exciting local area to explore.

Discover a variety of restaurants, cafes, bars, shops and entertainment venues all on your doorstep.

Jump on the train and we’re less than an hour away from the bright lights of both Manchester and Birmingham too.

Welcoming International Students

With over 120 nationalities studying with Keele, international students are welcomed to our global community, with dedicated support, scholarships and preparatory courses to support you through your application, enrolment and beyond.

Accommodation

Our accommodation includes over 2,800 bedrooms on campus, all within a short walk of central teaching spaces, shops, and food and drink venues.

Our Residence Life team supports students who live in halls of residence on campus, ensuring a community where students can relax, have fun, and feel connected, safe and secure.

We also guarantee on-campus accommodation for all September entry international students who apply by the deadline, with the option to live on campus for the duration of your course. Visit the Keele University website or contact our accommodation team for more details.
