About International Food & Agribusiness at HAS University of Applied Sciences

The English-taught study programme International Food & Agribusiness will teach you how food is produced and processed in different countries and cultures, and how this can be achieved in a sustainable way, with respect for people and the environment. The economical use of resources is a part of that. You will be working on smart solutions which will allow us to produce sufficient and healthy food now and in the future. Besides technical knowledge about plants, animals, food and health, you will learn everything about international cooperation and enterprise. We will be looking at business and not-profit organisations, as by building bridges between various interests you can do business sustainably in the world of food & agribusiness.

In year two you can choose between the three domains:

  • Animal Production
  • Crop Production
  • Food Processing & Nutrition

During the study programme International Food and Agribusiness you will not only acquire professional knowledge, but also learn to speak fluent English. You will be working on fascinating assignments with students from all over the world, follow seminars and do your traineeships in the Netherlands and abroad. This will get you prepared for an international career.

Notes about fees for this course

The tuition fees for EU-students for the academic year 2019-2020 are € 2,083. The Dutch government is halving tuition fees for first-year students in higher education. Those who meet all the conditions will pay €1,041,50 instead of €2,083 for the first year. Read more about the terms and conditions

The tuition fees for non-EU students (excluding students Iceland, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Norway, and Switzerland) are € 7,550.  

Entry requirements

The admission requirements for this 4-year Bachelor programme are a secondary diploma, equivalent to the Dutch HAVO diploma, with mathematics in your final year.

The level of your diploma will be assessed after HAS University of Applied Sciences has received your complete application form. If you want to know how your high school diploma is valued in the Netherlands before you apply, check the information in the Nuffic Foreign education systems.

Language requirements

If your previous education was not completely taught in English, you also need to be able to prove that you are proficient in the English language. HAS University of Applied Sciences prefers the IELTS language tests. The overall band score has to be 6.0 or higher. 

Exemption English language test 
International students are exempted from having to take a mandatory language test in case  the student obtained a diploma of secondary education in a country listed in the diploma list drawn up on behalf of the associations of institutions of higher education, as published on the website of the Code of Conduct.
