About Biological Sciences (Cell and Molecular Biology) at Heriot-Watt University

Cell and Molecular Biology (Biochemistry) is the basic science underpinning our understanding of all life processes. In this programme, we cover cell and molecular biological aspects of animals and plants, and provide the broad understanding necessary for a career in the biomedical/pharmaceutical, food and biotechnological industries as well as providing a sound foundation for further research.

  • Int. Baccalaureate 27 points to include 5 a science subject at Higher Level

  • Additional information One science subject (Biology, Human Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics or Physics) at Higher/A Level. Mathematics and an additional science, preferably Chemistry, are required at least at GCSE grade C / Standard Grade 3 / National 5 or equivalent.

Year 2

  • Advanced Highers BB and AABBB at Higher.
  • A-Levels ABB
  • Scottish Baccalaureate Distinction with Advanced Higher Biology B
  • Int. Baccalaureate 32 points to include 6 in Higher Level Biology
