Study a Development Economics Masters abroad in 2025

Development economics is an academic discipline that is concerned with the economic structure and decisions of developing countries. As well as being interested in helping low and middle income countries to develop and grow their economies, development economists also work to ensure that the general population of those countries will be served by the development of the economy. This can be done through education, health or work opportunities. Development economics is a cross between pure economics and sociology, as students will need to understand both aspects.

During a masters in development economics, you will build on the knowledge you gained at undergraduate level. Topics you cover might include:

  • Micro/Macro Economics
  • International Trade
  • Growth and Development
  • Economic Analysis
  • Econometrics
