Studying cultural studies abroad

Explore how culture shapes societies around the world with a degree in cultural studies - an ideal choice for international students eager to understand global identities, social change and systems of power across diverse communities.

An interdisciplinary field, Cultural Studies examines behaviours of societies, and how certain institutions (such as education or politics) affects these behaviours.

It also looks at the historical foundations of contemporary culture, and how our society and culture came to be what it is today in different countries across the world.

As a student of Cultural Studies, you will look at how different cultures operate and how that relates to wider systems of power and social expectations.

During a Cultural Studies degree, you will cover a range of topics. Some examples include:

  • Class, Culture & Conflict
  • 21st Century Sociology
  • Education and Inequality
  • Migration and Integration
  • Surveillance, Technology and Control

During a masters in Cultural Studies, you will be able to build on the knowledge gained through your undergraduate degree. The modules you study might include:

  • World Literature
  • Postcolonial Theory
  • Topics in Global Media and Communication
  • Community, Religion, and Conflict
  • Language, Identity and Society
