About Advertising and Digital Marketing Communications with Language, BA (Hons) - at University of Greenwich

We were the first UK university to offer a specialist degree in marketing communications and we have continued to develop our portfolio. We have recently redesigned this degree in collaboration with employers and marketing professional bodies, allowing us to keep up to date with digital trends. 
 
You will develop your skills in identifying trends and understanding consumer behaviour, as well as your language skills in either French, Italian, Mandarin, or Spanish. This combination will make you stand out and excel in the global advertising industry.

You will learn how to analyse target audiences and implement integrated marketing communications campaigns. By collaborating with your fellow students on real marketing problems, you will gain valuable experience of working in teams. 

Our courses will provide you with the principles and practice of marketing, as well as specialised knowledge in areas such as customer insight and research, strategic brand management, and digital, interactive, direct and social marketing. Preparing you for a career in the global advertising industry. 

Employability

You will have the option to undertake a work placement in your third year, providing insight and practical skills which employers seek in graduates.

You will have the opportunity to gain exemptions from Chartered Institute of Marketing, Market Research Society and Institute of Direct and Digital Marketing examinations, gaining professional recognition early in your career.

Youwill connect with employers through our dedicated Business SchoolEmployability Team who focus on developing your employmentskills. They also provide you with CV support and will inviteyou to employment fairs to network with employers and recruiters fromindustries. The team was shortlisted for the Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards.

We are actively improving job prospects for graduatesthrough the support we provide. According to survey findings, 93 per centof 2014/15 Greenwich graduates looking for work were already in jobs or furtherstudy by January 2016.

Experience abroad

You can participate in the Erasmus+ international exchange programme. This will help improve your language skills and give you experience of living and working in another country. The Erasmus+ Scheme provides a grant towards the cost of studying abroad for a year. 

Extracurricular activities

Our Greenwich Employability Passport scheme recognises and rewards your participation in additional activities such as part-time work, volunteering, student societies or industry guest lectures.

The student Marketing Society has over 100 members. The Society combines a mixture of academic and social activities. It's a great chance to hear about the industry from experts, previous speakers include IBM and Mediacom. A great way for you to create business contacts.

Our marketing students achieved first place in the latest national marketing competition organised by the Institute of Direct Marketing.

Business start-up

You will be encouraged to enter theuniversity's Enterprise Challenge which rewards student entrepreneurship andinnovation. Previous winners received aprize of £5,000 for their idea of developing an enterprise and study hub.

Outcomes

This degree aims to:

  • Help students develop an in-depth knowledge of advertising and communications theory and how this is applied in practice
