About Clinical Science, MRes - at University of East Anglia (UEA)

The Master of Research in Clinical Science is designed for a doctor, nurse or health professional seeking to develop a research-related element in their career.

Study

Develop the essential skills, awareness and discipline needed to carry out effective, quality research in an ethical, confident and patient-focused style. Students are encouraged to be self-motivated and independently pursue their areas of study and research.

Structure

Students will pursue a broader, more considered approach to specialist areas of medical research, building upon both practical and scientific abilities. Underlying medical theories are explored alongside the importance of critical reviews in evidence-based medicine.

Teaching

The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences deliver world class research and takes a leading role in the renowned scientific research community in Norwich. The School is building a strong reputation in Population Medicine, Health Economics, and Diet and Health and BioMedicine with laboratory work now being concentrated in the BioMedical Research Centre. The Faculty place a strong emphasis on inter-professional co-operation in teaching and research.

Employability

This course will help aid enhanced communication for the student as a medical professional. Students of this Masters of Research gain an appreciation of the huge breadth of medicine, benefits of research and the value that health professionals bring to the advancement of knowledge, a valuable understanding for furthering the career of a doctor, nurse or health professional.

Entry requirements

Open to students with a good degree in Health (min 2.2 or equivalent) or a related subject. This course is also open to medical students wanting to intercalate after the 4th year of their MBBS/MBChB.
