We are AAU – And You Could Be Too!

Anglo American University

Historic buildings with red flags

As the first – and oldest – private, English language university in the Czech Republic, Anglo-American University (AAU) boasts a unique and diverse learning environment. Catering to both undergraduate and graduate degrees, our institution provides a variety of courses in areas of business, diplomacy and law, humanities, international relations, political science, journalism, and visual arts.

AAU-nique Experience

“Since the very beginning we have aimed to create and continuously improve an educational environment that fosters intellectual curiosity, leadership, cooperation, and respect for cultural and national diversity.” – doc. Ing. Štepán Müller, CSc., President of Anglo-American University

Set against the beautiful backdrop of Prague, AAU offers you a unique and international university experience. Our degree programs are globally recognized with double accreditation- One from the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC), (an American accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education); and another, National Accreditation (NAB) which is awarded through the local accrediting body Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic or the National Accreditation Bureau for Higher Education in the Czech Republic (with the exception of the Law and MBA programs). This means that with a degree from AAU, our students benefit from having the international recognition of a US/EU degree, opening the door to a vast global market.

We offer a multitude of courses across our five schools:

Beneficially, our classroom sizes remain small, allowing for better personalization in your academic education- with an average of 12 students to 1 lecturer, you can guarantee that your voice is heard and needs catered to. For us, ‘global citizen’ status starts at home on campus. The AAU community is made up of over 80+ nationalities and hosts a wide variety of student run activities including in-house magazine ‘Lennon Wall’, numerous clubs, and representative Student Council.

Living in the City

Bridges over a river

The city of Prague is lively, cultural and deeply fascinating. Although frequently mis-thought of as just a tourist destination, Prague is one of the most affordable cities to live in, in Europe AND is considered to be one of the top 50 student cities in the world!

Steeped in a rich history, the city is littered with nods to its past through interesting architecture and museums. Despite being a bustling city, there are several parks and national natural treasures offering a chance to escape the hub-bub of busy days in lush, green nature. Also, as a city in the heart of Europe, opportunities to travel (COVID-19 permitted) are ample with Berlin, Budapest, Vienna, and Krakow only a few hours away by bus or Train.

Beyond Prague

With a variety of exchange opportunities available to students and staff, there are many ways in which you can expand your education. We encourage our students to branch out and try new things- including taking part in exchanges! While being part of the international environment of AAU is wonderful, being able to experience a different culture and new classroom diversifies your learning experience further.
