New Pre-Foundation Year English Program

Pre-Foundation Year English is an 8 week English course offered by UNSW Institute of Languages and is specially designed to assist UNSW Foundation Studies Transition students to develop their English skills and confidence required for success in their Transition program.

Benefits of Pre-Foundation Year (PFY) English course

  • Upon successful completion of the Pre-Foundation Year English course you will not need to retake an IELTS or similar test, and you will be admitted directly into the UNSW Foundation Studies Transition program
  • The course will help you develop English proficiency and academic study skills required for success in UNSW Foundation Studies including:
    • presentation and discussion skills
    • listening and note-taking
    • research and academic writing
  • You will learn from highly qualified and experienced teachers who understand the needs of UNSW Foundation Studies students
  • You will develop your English skills needed for success at UNSW by using and learning with authentic UNSW resources including lectures and assessment tasks.
  • You will complete your English preparation in an English speaking environment on campus at UNSW
  • You will integrate and settle into UNSW before you commence your undergraduate degree
  • You can package your Pre-Foundation Year English course, UNSW Foundation Studies  program and your UNSW degree program under one visa covering the entire period of study for all courses.

To qualify for the Pre-Foundation Year (PFY) English and Transition programs leading to UNSW Semester 1, 2014, you will need to meet the following academic and English entry requirements:
