Overview
This FdSc Nutritional Therapeutics course will develop your understanding of the science behind the relationship between food, health and wellbeing.

We have designed this course to meet the varying needs of individuals and to provide the best possible foundation for you to gain a professional qualification in nutritional therapy.

This Nutritional Therapy Foundation degree is supported through University of West London's Virtual Learning Environment (Blackboard and PebblePad) which is available through the University's website, 24 hours a day via internet access.

Through this course we will help you build a sound knowledge base in the theory and practice of Nutritional Therapy, underpinned by the development of basic medical sciences.

  • anatomy and physiology
  • basic biochemistry

the study of named diseases (pathology) - as it relates to the field of practice.
You will develop your practitioner skills through monitored cases supported by experienced nutritional therapists. The course encompasses work based observational/placement practice concepts and principles that will you to develop various qualities and transferable skills necessary for future employment in the health sector.

Career and study progression
This course may be attractive to both complete newcomers to healthcare or to individuals who have already trained in other complementary or conventional healthcare areas wishing to gain a non-practitioner qualification.

Having successfully completed the Foundation Degree you can progress onto the Level 6 BSc / BSc (Hons) Nutritional Therapy Degree. The BSc (Hons) pathway provides further development of research and evaluation skills which can enhance practitioner expertise and lead to further career choices as well as a qualified Nutritional Therapist status.

Funding

Help with funding is available to a range of students, whether you are studying full or part-time, in your home country or overseas.

You may be eligible for a student loan to cover the cost of tuition fees or a maintenance loan to support you during your studies.   • Full Time Undergraduate Bursary: a £3,000 award for new undergraduate students.
  • Path to Success Scholarship: a £4,000 award for students on a four-year degree course with a foundation year.

Please note fees are paid for each year of study unless otherwise stated. You will be required to re-enrol and pay fees at the beginning of each academic year. Fees may be subject to government regulations on fee increases. Future inflationary increases will be applied to each subsequent year of the course, subject to government regulations on fee increases.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements

80 UCAS tariff points, which would normally include at least two subject areas or equivalent qualifications at Level 3 plus GCSE Grade C or above in English language and mathematics.

Students without the above qualifications who have relevant work experience are invited to apply and all applicants for this course are required to attend an interview.

International entry criteria

International students need to meet our English language requirement at either IELTS at 7.0 or above, and a minimum of 7.0 for each of the 4 individual components (Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening).
