OverviewThe MSc Psychology Conversion offers a fast route for graduates wishing to gain eligibility for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC), which is the first step towards becoming a Chartered Psychologist.
Why choose this course?The MSc Psychology (Graduate Conversion) delivers all of the core content required by the British Psychological Society to allow successful graduates to apply for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC). 
The Masters level course has a strong focus on developing and enhancing your critical thinking and providing all the skills and knowledge required to plan, implement and report psychological research. 
You will be taught by active research staff within the School of Human and Social Sciences, providing opportunities for you to complete your dissertation projects on a number of topics, through a range of methodologies, allowing you to specialise in your chosen area of interest.
During the course your skills and knowledge will be assessed through:

• research reports
• oral and poster presentations
• written examinations
• essays.

The teaching staff will offer small group tutorials providing instruction and support for a range of academic skills (such as the specific referencing and writing style required) as well as in personal development in time management and project planning.

The School of Human and Social Sciences teaching staff includes:
Dr Rosemary Stock who is the Course Leader for the Graduate Diplomas and Post Graduate Certificates in Psychology. Both Rosemary's Masters degree and her PhD examined the effects of ageing and of various individual differences (e.g. thinking style) upon reasoning and decision making. She continue to work in this field, but since joining UWL she has also developed an interest in improving teaching and learning in higher education. Her projects in this field include 'Examining the Role of Mental Toughness in Student Success' and 'the Affects and Predictors of Media Multi-Tasking within the Student Population'.
A Lecturer in psychology, Dr Ben Hine is broadly interested in the area of applied gender psychology. This is reflected in his two main research interests - prosocial behaviour in childhood and adolescence, and interpersonal violence.
Ben is continuing the work conducted during his PhD - exploring how gender stereotypes and norms influence prosocial behaviour, and whether boys feel they need to carve out a specific 'niche' in this traditionally feminine area. He is also interested in interpersonal violence towards men and women, and how gendered power dynamics influence the judgements and reactions to these incidences, particularly by the criminal justice system, but also by peers and support networks.
Dr Jamie Churchyard who is a Lecturer in psychology, is mainly interested in research focusing on personality and other individual differences. This includes research looking into both between and/or within-person personality or individual differences (thought to be due to inclusion/involvement in naturally occurring groups or situations). He usually explore these topics in relation to psychological well-being, but he is also interested in how personality and dogmatic thinking are related in particular groups (e.g., religious, political).
Dr Bob Lockie is a Senior Lecturer in psychology who specialises in:

• Philosophical Psychology
• Conceptual and Theoretical Issues in Psychology
• Epistemology
• Metaphilosophy
• Free Will                                            

Dr Lee Usher is a Senior Lecturer in psychology. His PhD focused on the psychological components of Functional Gastrointestinal illness. Specifically, he examined the role of illness and treatment representations in individuals affected by Irritable Bowel Syndrome and how such representations influence coping procedures (such as use of complementary treatments) and health related quality of life. He is currently involved in research assessing the influence of mental toughness and affect in higher education.
