Course summary

OverviewThis course is the London College of Music's flagship music technology course, representing over 20 years' development and experience. It inspires and shapes our other music technology courses, and has an enviable resource base. This is one of the largest audio complexes in Europe.
Why choose this course?This course develops your skills in contemporary sound and music pre- and post-production - skills the industry really needs - along with the theory and techniques essential for creating music and audio to a professional standard. It involves you directly in the creative application of technology, focusing on music technology and its many guises, and aims to provide you with a sound knowledge and understanding of the music, audio, media production and recording industries.
Based in our superbly equipped studios, you will use sophisticated audio and MIDI technology in a creative and theoretically informed way. Students that have completed the course successfully will fully understand, and be able to operate and control, complex and demanding recording sessions in high-performance audio environments. You will also complete a major project on a subject of personal interest to you, thereby enhancing your portfolio for potential employers or further study options.

Funding

Help with funding is available to a range of students, whether you are studying full or part-time, in your home country or overseas.

You may be eligible for a student loan to cover the cost of tuition fees or a maintenance loan to support you during your studies. We also offer a range of scholarships and bursaries to help you. Current scholarships include:

  • Full Time Undergraduate Bursary: a £3,000 award for new undergraduate students.
  • Path to Success Scholarship: a £4,000 award for students on a four-year degree course with a foundation year.

Please note fees are paid for each year of study unless otherwise stated. You will be required to re-enrol and pay fees at the beginning of each academic year. Fees may be subject to government regulations on fee increases. Future inflationary increases will be applied to each subsequent year of the course, subject to government regulations on fee increases.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements

Level 5 qualification in music technology. The Music Technology courses do not have an Audition/Interview. However portfolios are required from applicants without a music technology qualification.

International students need to meet our English language requirement at either IELTS at 6.0 or above and a minimum of 5.5 for each of the 4 individual components (Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening).
