Course Overview
The programme aims to provide a flexible route of study which allows you to develop an expansive knowledge of leisure management issues and concepts while gaining the skills the industry requires.
The programme will prepare students for future management careers. From the outset you will develop your employability skills and knowledge through studying language and industry-based skills while introducing key theories and issues affecting the leisure sectors.

The programme offers exciting placement opportunities for you to gain practical and vocational experience within the international leisure industry which have been developed over the past 20 years.
Placement opportunities include a range of local and internationally based opportunities with a variety of providers including Challenger Sports, Aspen Ski Company, Valley Fair Theme Park USA, PGL Adventure Holidays, WRU, Liberty Stadium, Local Authority Sports Development Teams, Swansea Leisure Centre, Ffos Las Race Course, Oakwood Theme Park and numerous other private and public leisure organisations depending on your interests.
The friendly approach of the University and teaching team allows early diagnosis of learning needs and support for skill enhancement. This includes respect for specialist needs. The close working relationships between tutors and students and students and their classmates allows a positive, active learning environment.
This programme offers an academically challenging, vocational experience which incorporates innovative teaching and assessment methods.
A wide range of extracurricular activities are also available, both subject-related and social, including a range of exciting field study trips, will further enhance the student experience. Previous trips include visits to the Olympic Stadium in London, tours of a range of leisure venues including Ffos Las Race Course, Oakwood Theme Park and Millennium Stadium and regular trips to Pembrokeshire and the Swiss Alps.

Assessment
The programme will be assessed through a structured mix of assessments which will include assignments, essays, management reports, debates, industry presentations and field study work.
Assessments are related to the modules studied and wherever possible are designed to enhance employability.

Additional Costs
Field trips will be available for students, which are optional. Costs for UK trips are no more than £100. For overseas trips costs will be no more than £450.
Students undertaking placements abroad will incur some travel costs. The amount will depend upon location and current state of the UK pound. For students undertaking placements in the USA additional visa costs will apply. For example students undertaking placements in Aspen, Colarado in 2017 will be expected to find £2000.
Students will be expected to pay four weeks prior to field trips taking place. Travel and visa costs for overseas placements, three months before departure.
