This is a career-oriented programme that will allow you to gain a strong foundation in key areas of molecular biological sciences and develop a wide range of scientific skills to prepare you for employment or for further study.
The programme has a strong emphasis on hands-on practical work, and one quarter of the assessment in the first two years is practical based. In addition, there is a student-led project in the final year. The programme can be studied full or part-time and may include a sandwich year in industry.
You should apply for this programme if you are interested in basic research and development, teaching, or in working in hospital laboratories, multidisciplinary biological environments, the scientific civil service or scientific journalism. A significant proportion of our graduates pursue further study towards Masters and PhD level degrees and careers in research.
The aims of the programme are:
Your time at university should be enjoyable and rewarding, and it is important that it is not spoilt by unnecessary financial worries. We recommend that you spend time planning your finances, both before coming to university and while you are here. We can offer advice on living costs and budgeting, as well as on awards, allowances and loans.
