Our programme has the attractive feature of combining the academic study of language and communication with the study of literature. For this reason, this programme gives you access to a wide range of careers not only in education, but in areas such as marketing, the digital industry or social media.
The content of the courses is organised around two core strands: language analysis, where the properties of English language (its sound, meaning and use in society) are studied and English literature, where students are introduced to a wide range of challenging texts and new ways of reading. English literature is interpreted broadly to include drama and visual narratives as well as fiction and poetry.
The teaching modes we deploy here, together with the assessment methods, will contribute to the development of your skills in data analysis, logical and critical-thinking as well as creative skills. You will participate in lectures and seminars, where you will develop your own projects.
The aims of the programme are:
Your time at university should be enjoyable and rewarding, and it is important that it is not spoilt by unnecessary financial worries. We recommend that you spend time planning your finances, both before coming to university and while you are here. We can offer advice on living costs and budgeting, as well as on awards, allowances and loans.
