About Music and the Creative Arts in Education, MEd, PG Dip, Postgraduate Certificate - at University of Exeter

These programmes are intended for qualified teachers, lecturers and administrators, based in the UK or overseas, with sufficient grounding in one or more of the arts to take full advantage of the syllabus and resources. They are designed to develop the practical artistic skills and theoretical understandings of teachers from the principal sections of arts education. In particular, emphasis is laid on the relationship of the arts to each other and to the school curriculum as a whole. The programmes also examine the educational use of the arts to meet special needs and the changing role of arts education in a multicultural society.

Much of the programme is based on seminars, lectures and studio work. Students undertake an intensive investigation of a theme related to the aims of the programme, involving placement and/or visits to schools, colleges or other artistic and educational establishments.
