About Ethno-Politics, MPhil - at University of Exeter

The Centre for Ethno-Political Studies (EXCEPS) inter-disciplinary research centre which brings together the expertise of political scientists, historians and geographers (among others). The focus is on the role of ethnic groups in political developments and the manner in which ethnicity is presented in political and social life. The Centre seeks to expand the field of study of contemporary ethno-political concerns through the inclusion of the activities of related disciplines and embrace an explicitly multi-disciplinary approach.

The Centre runs its own programme of visiting speaker seminars.

Four-Year PhD
EXCEPS offers a Four-Year PhD programme, aimed primarily at students who wish to teach at University level. The Four-Year PhD typically begins with a taught Masters-level course (MRes) designed to provide you with the methodological skills for advanced research. On successful completion of the Masters degree, you may progress to the doctorate. The second and third years will include further specialist subject training, together with research and the Centre may make available teaching apprenticeships with modest remuneration. The fourth year will normally be devoted to completion of your doctoral thesis.
