Master's Degree Programme in Automation Engineering offers qualified students an international study environment and prepares them for more flexible professional career opportunities in which mastering an international language, like English, is a standard requirement. The two-year programme is designed for Bachelors of Science acquiring comprehensive engineering skills for automation and mechatronics. The programme leads to the degree of Master of Science in Technology.

Studies in the master's degree programme in Machine Automation will provide students with the following competencies:

  • to apply the knowledge acquired during advanced studies and a scientific approach to topical and concrete tasks
  • to operate in different expert, development and management positions in working life
  • to participate in societal debate pertaining to technology
  • to use English language, communication and cooperation skills in working life
  • to apply their skills to scientific activities and societal debate in their field

After completing the programme and achieving the defined learning outcomes, students will be eligible to pursue a PhD / Doctoral degree and continuous learning.

Entry requirements

The applicant must have a 3 or 4 years Bachelor of Science degree from an internationally recognized university in the field of mechanical engineering, automation and/or control technology, mechatronics, and other discipline related to the programme with proficiency in mathematics, physics, and elementary programming skills.

The official language of the Programme is English. Therefore, a good command in English language is an absolute prerequisite. The language certificate is always required from all applicants.One of the following language tests is required:TOEFL (min. score 92 in internet-based or 580 in paper-based test)IELTS (score 6.5 or higher)Cambridge Language Certificate (Proficiency CPE or Advanced CAE) (grade "C" or higher)PTE Academic 62Score reports can be sent to TUT from the testing centre. The TOEFL code of Tampere University of Technology is 0599. TUT has no institutional code for other language tests.Please notice that any other language certificate or free-form statement can not be accepted.
