About 6-Year MD - Medicine, MD - at Medical University of Lodz

6-year MD program is designed for high school/secondary school graduates. It is a full time study program based on requirements which are obligatory for the Polish medical higher education institutions and is adequate to EU standards.

Program consists of 3 years ( 6 semesters) of pre-clinical, basic subjects; anatomy, medical chemistry, biology, biophysics, physiology, histology and cell biology, microbiology, pathomorphology, pharmacology  and others and  3 years (6 semesters) of clinical subjects as internal medicine, pediatrics, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, psychiatry, radiology, family medicine, neurology, oncology & palliative care, otolaryngology, ophthalmology, infectious diseases and others.

Intake: once a year in Fall
Length of the academic year: October - June
Degree obtained: LEKARZ (Doctor of Medicine)

Notes about fees for this course

Application Fee  120 EUR (non-refundable) paid in advance (before the MS Teams entrance exam).

12.600 EUR per year for years from the 2nd to the 6th

Entry requirements

  • A high school diploma or a secondary school leaving certificate or equal as GCE A-level certificates or IB and EB diplomas qualifying for admission to a university or a medical school in the home country.
  • Extended level of knowledge in 2 of the following subjects: Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Mathematics – documented by the above mentioned school leaving certificates/diplomas. The grades required should be above the average.
    The above knowledge is to be verified during the entrance exam.
  • English competency written and spoken confirmed by the respective certificates as CAE, CPE, TOEFL IBT (minimum 75 points), IELTS (min 6.0 points) if the secondary education was not conducted in English.
    The command of English of candidates who cannot present any of the above certificates will be assessed during the entrance exam.

2. Why did you decide to study abroad?

I always loved travelling and wanted to study abroad, it was definitely one the best decisions I have ever made. Studying abroad can be an incredibly rewarding experience that offers a wealth of benefits. It provides the opportunity to immerse yourself in a new culture, learn a new language, and broaden your horizons. You’ll have the chance to explore new places, make new friends, and gain a fresh perspective on the world. I believe that studying abroad is an excellent way to challenge yourself and step outside of your comfort zone. It can be a transformative experience that helps you to grow as a person and gain a deeper understanding of yourself and the world around you.

3. Why did you choose MUL?

The Medical University of Lodz is one of the top medical schools in Poland, offering a high-quality education to students from around the world and it was recommended to be by family friends and relatives.

4. What do you like about your studies?

Dental students have the unique opportunity to work with their hands and make a tangible difference in people’s lives. They get to develop practical skills that can help them restore patients’ oral health and function. This hands-on experience can be incredibly rewarding, allowing dental students to see the immediate impact of their work on patients. Additionally, dental students often form close-knit communities with their peers and faculty, sharing a passion for oral health and learning from one another. Overall, dental students have the opportunity to develop both practical skills and close relationships, making for a fulfilling and enjoyable educational experience.



1. What is your name, where are you from?

My name is Misty Rohatgi and I’m from India.

2. Why did you decide to study abroad?

As my parents live in Nigeria, I was intrigued to learn about varied culture and languages in other parts of the world.

3. Why did you decide to study medicine?

Well when I was a child I loved playing with doctor sets. My  uncles who are pharmacists  got many sample tablets at home, which I used to play and prescribe them. Looking at my nature of helping others and the will to give back to humankind,  the childhood game became a reality.

4. Why did you choose MUL?

Living all my life in the hustle bustle of bigger cities, I wanted to experience living in a student city. Lodz happened to be one of them and is also  close to Warsaw, in case I need to travel anywhere. Lodz is in the middle of Poland which makes it easier to explore Poland.

5. What do you like about your studies?

The fact that we not only gain the book knowledge, but also that the Dr’s  teach us through their own clinical experiences. They not only help us with our subjects but also guide us for our future career choices.



Dr Vishnu Pradeep graduated from the six-year MD program at MUL in 2012. He is a Consultant Psychiatrist in General Adult Psychiatry based at Tallaght University Hospital, Dublin and is a Senior Clinical Lecturer with Trinity College Dublin. Following his studies at MUL, he completed his medical and surgical internship in Ireland. Then subsequently went on to complete his specialist training in Adult Psychiatry and Psychogeriatrics while rotating through the Mid-West Mental Health and Dublin psychiatric training schemes.

During core training, he received the regional psychiatry trainee award. While in higher training, he held academic teaching posts with University College Dublin and Trinity College Dublin and was awarded the National Doctor’s Training and Planning HSE Management and Leadership Scholarship to pursue a master’s in leadership studies with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. While in training, he held leadership roles within the College of Psychiatrists of Ireland Trainee Committee and was actively involved in improving post-graduate training and education in psychiatry.

He maintains research ties with the University of Limerick, University College Dublin and Trinity College Dublin and has published research on medical education and service development. He is currently working in a Dublin Community Adult Psychiatry team focusing on primary care psychiatric outreach service and is responsible for training Psychiatric Trainees, General Practice Trainees and Medical Students linked to Trinity College Dublin.

Dr Pradeep fondly remembers his time in MUL and is grateful for all the support he received from his supervisors and administrative staff with the faculty of medicine and various teaching hospitals in Łódź. He encourages all future graduates to work hard, stay focused and dream big!
