About Economics and Marketing, MA (Hons) - at Heriot-Watt University

The MA in Economics and Marketing requires no prior knowledge of the core subject areas of economics and marketing. The programme offers a considerable degree of flexibility, permitting students to tailor their studies to meet their own interests. It provides students with skills which are both necessary for an understanding of economic and marketing theories, but which can also be applied in many other situations. As a result, graduates are able to embark upon successful careers in banking, finance, the civil service and a wide range of marketing and management roles.

Entry requirements

Year 1

  • Highers AAAB (over two sittings)
  • A-Levels BBB
  • Int. Baccalaureate 29 points
  • HNC B in graded unit

Year 2

  • Advanced Highers BB in relevant subjects, plus AAAB at Higher.
  • A-Levels ABB in relevant subjects
  • Int. Baccalaureate 34 points plus relevant subjects
  • HND BB in graded units, relevant HND
  • Additional information Minimum of grade C in Mathematics at Scottish Higher, grade C in Mathematics at AS or 5 in HL Maths for International Baccalaureate is required.

Additional information

  • Intermediate 2 / National 5 / GCSE English and Mathematics are required for all Economics programmes.
