This degree programme is designed to enable students to fully appreciate the key roles played by the component disciplines of accounting, marketing, production, human resource management and information technology. In addition, graduates will gain an appreciation and understanding of the ever-changing environment in which business operates and how it is influenced by political, legal, economic, social and technological factors. The complexity and dynamism of the business environment is reflected in the course syllabi.
On completion of the programme students will be equipped with the ability to identify changes in business requirements as they occur and will have the confidence to develop and implement new procedures to satisfy them. The course will also enable students to recognise the key characteristics governing a particular company or industry and to identify the factors which are critical to its success.
The course syllabus has been developed by GCD’s Course Syllabus Committee and validated by HETAC. In endeavouring to design a degree programme, which reflects the multiple requirements of today's business world, the College received participation and support from both its full-time and external lecturing staff and a wide range of industries. The structure of this committee represents the leading edge of business in Ireland. In addition, many members of this committee are the principal lecturers on one or more of the course modules corresponding to their field of specialisation.
