About Autonomous Systems (AUS) at EIT Digital Master School

From self-driving cars to robotic assistants, the Internet of Things, and AI-based software solutions – the future is autonomous. However, as an emerging technology, autonomous systems hold both opportunities and risks. The key to navigating this potential minefield is to not only understand the technology itself but, more importantly, be able to confidently evaluate autonomous processes and maximise the trade-off between business impact and resources spent.

This is where EIT Digital comes into play. With our Autonomous Systems programme, you’ll have the skills – and confidence – to drive the transition to autonomous systems.

What you will gain

Our interdisciplinary programme is designed to approach autonomous systems from both a computer science and an electronic engineering perspective. We use a combination of face-to-face workshops, group activities, and hands-on exercises to cover everything from the basics of autonomous systems to such specific skills as:

  • Internet of Things (IoT)
  • Machine learning
  • Artificial intelligence
  • Robotics
  • Automation and control
  • Embedded systems
  • System communication
  • Autonomous software systems

To enhance your learning, the programme includes an opportunity to get real-world experience by working in a business operating in the autonomous vehicle, intelligent robotics, industrial IoT, or autonomous software system fields. During your internship, you’ll apply your new skills and knowledge towards solving problems and creating new products and services.

Unlock new career opportunities

Careers in autonomous systems are simply exploding. You will leave this programme having the training and skills needed to unlock a range of career opportunities. Our AUS graduates can be found working in open innovation settings and leading technology companies, including in the manufacturing, logistics, mining, waste, media, finance, healthcare, and services sectors. Some have even gone on to launch their own successful start-ups and consultancies.

Ready to join their ranks? Then enrol today and start driving the digital transformation with Autonomous Systems!

Entry requirements

Our Autonomous Systems Master’s programme is open to applicants with either a Bachelor of Science degree or who are in their final year of study in:

  • Electrical engineering/electronics
  • Computer engineering
  • Computer science
  • Information technology
  • Industrial engineering

Applicants should have a basic understanding of programming, data structures and algorithms, and mathematics, including calculus, algebra, and statistics. A background in basic mechanics and systems theory is also beneficial. Please note that a strong grasp of C++ is required for some of the programme’s mandatory courses.

In some circumstances, relevant work experience may compensate for a lack of relevant degree. Such work experience should be justified in your letter of motivation.
