Industry-standard facilities

The practical studio elements of the course are delivered in the Poole Gateway Building, which opened in spring 2020. This houses various studio spaces, editing workstations and the kit store. We have a range of digital cameras and professional lighting to support your studies and enhance your portfolio.

Getting hands-on experience with the same equipment used in industry settings prepares you for both your time on placement and your future career.

Foundation year (for September 2025 entry): We have a foundation year option for students who do not meet the entry requirements for the degree course. This additional year of study will give you a grounding in the media & communication skills required for this course, building your confidence, knowledge and skills for further study. After successful completion of the foundation year, you will progress to the full degree.

  • £9,250 per year (UK, ROI & CI)
  • £17,800 per year (Int'l)
  • Placement year: £1,850

Entry requirements

For September 2024 and September 2025 entry: The entry requirements for this course are 104 - 120 UCAS tariff points including a minimum of 2 A levels or equivalent. BTEC Extended Diploma: 112 tariff points (Grade DMM).

Required subjects: All subjects considered

Please see below some examples of the international qualifications for entry onto Year 1:

  • China: Chinese Senior High School Graduation Certificate (Huikao) average 80%, or Gaokao 61-71%. Grade depends on the course 
  • France: Baccalaureate with 11.5–12.5 overall or 10.5-11.5 (international option) 
  • Hong Kong: HKDSE Diploma (4,4,3 to 4,4,4 from three subjects). Grade depends on the course 
  • India: All India Senior School Certificate Examination (Standard XII) 60-70% 
  • Spain: Titulo de Bachillerato with 6 - 7. Grade depends on the course 
  • Turkey: Devlet Lise Diplomasi/Lise Bitirme Diplomasi 3.5/5.0 or 70% 

For September 2024 and September 2025 entry: If English is not your first language you'll need IELTS (Academic) 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in writing, speaking, listening and reading or equivalent.
