Silesian University of Technology is a friendly and open University that comprehensively supports its students and helps them develop their passions and interests.

Research University

Our University is a modern European technical university, operating in the EURECA-PRO network of European universities in the field of sustainable production and consumption. The university also belongs to the prestigious group of 10 Polish universities – winners of the competition “Initiative of Excellence – Research University”. We offer business cooperation to the socio-economic environment in 12 scientific disciplines, which are closely related to the 6 Priority Research Areas developed by the University. These include Computational Oncology and Personalized Medicine; Artificial Intelligence and Data Processing; Materials of the Future; Smart Cities and Mobility of the Future; Process Automation and Industry 4.0 as well as Climate and Environment Protection, Modern Energy. Innovation and transfer of new technologies are essential in the knowledge-based economy, which is why we create an innovation ecosystem, where new ideas are not only born but also become reality. The knowledge-based economy requires scientific research and the transfer of new technologies to industry.

The future is here

The University provides education in nearly 60 fields of study (including almost 30 in English). In addition to academic knowledge, students gain valuable work experience, and part of the education is carried out in the form of Project Based Learning, developing specific solutions in interdisciplinary groups, which broadens their horizons. The University cares for the professional future of its students through close cooperation with many Polish and foreign companies, as well as through dual training. The most talented students can spread their wings in the mentoring program, while doctoral students can conduct research in cooperation with industry by solving specific business problems.

Aim high

Those curious about the world can take advantage of the Summer and Winter School, a project that allows them to spend their summer vacation at a foreign university. For those interested in a longer stay abroad, Erasmus and Erasmus Plus programs are available. Our students can also obtain a double diploma with selected universities in Europe, and those willing to travel overseas should be interested in an interdisciplinary semester project that the Silesian University of Technology runs with Stanford University in the United States.

Study in the heart of Europe

The campus of Silesian University of Technology is one of the largest in the country. The main campus seat in Gliwice. Other campuses are located in Katowice and Zabrze.

Gliwice is a charming, 800-year-old city and an important scientific, research and design centre in Poland. It has nearly 180,000 inhabitants and thanks to SUT, Gliwice is the second, next to Warsaw, agglomeration of technical skills and knowledge. Over the last 20 years, Gliwice has transformed from a city based on heavy industry into a leader in new technologies.

The studies show that Gliwice is one of the most attractive cities to live and study in Poland.

In Gliwice, there are buildings of 9 faculties and 2 institutes where scientific research is carried out and classes are held. Moreover, there is also a clinic and a large canteen in the immediate vicinity.

For years we have been doing our best to improve the infrastructure. The well-developed and extensive campus provides not only a modern teaching infrastructure and well-equipped laboratories but also a variety of leisure and recreational activities.

Students have at their disposal Sports Centre, two sports halls, tennis courts, ice rink, Student Culture Centre “Mrowisko” with Spirala Club, where active cultural life takes place. The university has over 180 scientific societies, numerous student organizations and agencies that prepare a number of interesting meetings and events during the academic year. There are also 26 sports sections in which students achieve great success.

Together against the pandemic

The university also are helping in the fight against the pandemic. The University’s achievements include a developed temperature screening system using thermal imaging cameras, production of visors for hospitals, a disinfection chamber and an air purifier for hospitals and schools.
