Study a Film Masters abroad in 2025

A masters degree in film offers the opportunity to explore the cinematic arts to a more advanced level. Students can further develop their skills in filmmaking, critical analysis, screenwriting, and many other areas. Usually taking 1-2 years to complete, a masters degree in film is designed to take your expertise to the next step, preparing you for your future in the industry.

Admission Requirements

Admission to a masters degree in film normally requires a bachelor's degree in a related subject, although some programs will take students from other subject areas. You will likely need to provide a creative portfolio, which could include short films, screenplays, or any previous cinematic world you have completed. This is to showcase your talent and potential to the course leaders.

You will also need to demonstrate that you are proficient in the teaching language. This can be done through scores on TOEFL and IELTS tests for non-native speakers.

Tuition Fees

International students will most likely have to pay tuition fees, but you should take advantage of any financial assistance they can access. This might include scholarships, grants and assistantships, which are all designed to help with the financial burden of studying abroad.

Careers

Graduates of a masters degree in film will be well prepared for an advanced role in the film industry. These could include film production, direction, screenwriting, and many others.
