Course summary

OverviewThis is a practically focused technical design course, where you will be trained and encouraged to develop the skills to undertake a professional role within the architecture industry.
In a fast-changing industry graduates will be enabled to undertake the specialist role in the formation, detailing and specifying of design proposals.
Why choose this course?Architectural technologists use their knowledge to make sure building designs work as intended. In contemporary architectural design it can be challenging to meet the needs of the client, community and environment. This means that design proposals and detailed decisions need expert professional judgement.
This course covers the academic theory and principles of architectural design and technology, including building technologies, legislation and design. You will also develop your skills of building information modelling (BIM) and sustainable building technology, which are highly demanded by the modern construction industry.
The course is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists, ensuring that you earn a professional focused qualification.
Career and study progressionOn successful completion of this course, you will be able to pursue a career as an architectural technologist in the construction industry. You will be equipped with the knowledge and skills required for this role, as well as for other design roles within the field of built environment.
You may also wish to undertake postgraduate study to specialise in a subject you've already studied, or to explore something new.

Funding

Help with funding is available to a range of students, whether you are studying full or part-time, in your home country or overseas.

You may be eligible for a student loan to cover the cost of tuition fees or a maintenance loan to support you during your studies.   • Full Time Undergraduate Bursary: a £3,000 award for new undergraduate students.
  • Path to Success Scholarship: a £4,000 award for students on a four-year degree course with a foundation year.

Please note fees are paid for each year of study unless otherwise stated. You will be required to re-enrol and pay fees at the beginning of each academic year. Fees may be subject to government regulations on fee increases. Future inflationary increases will be applied to each subsequent year of the course, subject to government regulations on fee increases.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements

You will need 72 UCAS tariff points, or equivalent qualifications at Level 3, and Level 2 Maths and English.
We particularly welcome applicants with the following qualifications:

  • Progression or Advanced Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment
  • Progression or Advanced Diploma in Engineering
    Courses in a related subject area, such as a National Certificate or Diploma in Construction, Civil Engineering or Engineering.

International students need to meet our English language requirement at either IELTS at 6.0 or above and a minimum of 5.5 for each of the 4 individual components (Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening).
