The Bachelor's programme in Industrial Design combines technology and creativity in order to design consumer products that are practical to use, well-designed and right for the target group.
What is Industrial Design?
During the Bachelor's programme in Industrial Design at the University of Twente, you will learn to design or improve products using technical insights, creativity and a feel for consumer behaviour. In this context, that means products that are functional and attractive. But there is more to it than that: you also have to be able to manufacture your design at a reasonable cost price, the product must be practical, and properly transportable. The Industrial Design course prepares you for all those aspects.
Reasons for studying the bachelor's programme Industrial Design
What distinguishes this programme from courses elsewhere, above all, is its future-oriented approach. You will get a firm grip on the entire design process, from developing ideas to market introduction. You will gain fundamental knowledge at a scientific level that lets you navigate accurately between technical possibilities and market movements. This makes you an entrepreneurial designer.
Our programme is also characterized by its design-oriented, project-based content. You will work on real assignments from the market, for instance. Together with your team, you will develop a prototype that you present to your client. A lot of products made by students have actually ended up in shops this way.
