We are more engaged with politics now than ever before. People are participating in protests about climate change and LGBTQ+ rights, more young people are having their voices heard and are voting in elections, and the public are questioning and debating some of the most controversial theories about free speech, gender and migration.
As a BA Politics student, you'll take a critical look at what is happening in the UK, EU and other political systems in different parts of the world. You will use case studies and theories to develop and demonstrate your views and explain what can be done to address some of the big issues affecting society today.
You'll be learning from academics whose research has helped shape policy on a range of topics such as:
This research is what shapes the modules we teach, and with a large variety of optional modules to choose from, you can tailor your degree to your particular areas of interest and research the topics that you think are really important. You will also have core modules each year that are designed to give you a solid foundation in the theories, methods and analytical skills that you'll apply to your studies.
Want more out of your degree? You'll also have the opportunity to study abroad, undertake a placement year or take part in a whole host of other global and work experiences.
