About Respiratory Medicine, PhD - at University of Nottingham

The School of Medical and Surgical Sciences was formed in 1997 by the merger of 15 divisions. The research interests of the School are diverse and include Allergic and Inflammatory Disease, Vascular Disease, Surgery, Neurology and Dermatology. Research within the school is organised around research groups, centres and institutes and includes laboratory based research (for example cell biology, molecular pharmacology and cell signalling), human clinical research (for example Stroke, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Thrombosis and Haemostasis, Cancer and Therapeutics) and Epidemiological Studies.

Many members of the school's staff are affiliated to one or more the University's Centres of Research Excellence in Infection, Immunity and Inflammation; Cell Signalling; Neuroscience; Clinical Research; and Pharmaceutical Sciences and Experimental Therapeutics.

The school is based on sites at the Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham City Hospital and Derby City Hospital.
