About English Studies and Hispanic Studies, BA - at University of Nottingham

The School of English Studies is one of the oldest schools in the University and aims to introduce students to the range of disciplines within English, including the study of English literature from its origins to the present day, modern English language, medieval studies, and drama.

English Studies looks at the historical contexts and varieties of language as well as the artistic texts produced. Students will take a combination of compulsory and optional modules with a choice of modules from outside the school. The school has an active literary society and supports the publication of a student magazine.

In the 2001 Research Assessment Exercise, the School of English was awarded a 5A.
