About Master of Public Health – London based, MPH - at University of Liverpool

As an academic discipline, public health uses a population rather than an individual approach that may require a considerable change in mind set for students. In this context, a key strength of Liverpool’s Master of Public Health programme is the emphasis on sociology and qualitative research methods as well as quantitative approaches.

In addition, the programme reflects current changes in national and international policy and appeals to professionals working in health management, health promotion, commissioning, nursing, occupational health, medicine, civic design and many other areas of public health.

The practice of public health is thus very broad and consequently its practitioners come from a variety of backgrounds, as reflected in the broad range of expertise of our staff. Because of this, students have the opportunity to study a varied academic programme in depth, in an environment that is both challenging and supportive.

The Department of Public Health is an approved training programme for NHS Specialist Registrars in Public Health.
