About Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Hons.) - Welding and Quality Inspection, UG:Bachelor - at Universiti Kuala Lumpur (Uni KL)

This Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Hons.) in Welding and Quality Inspection is the first programme of its kind in Malaysia and would probably be the first in this region. The modules/syllabus were developed by Universiti Kuala Lumpur with the cooperation of our industrial partner, SIRIM Berhad. This a four-year programme that is intended to produce future graduates or individuals with professional qualifications accepted by the industries. The programme would also emphasize in imparting up-to-date technical know-how and competencies as a Welding Engineer.

Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs)

  • PEO 1
    UniKL graduates who are knowledgeable, competent and innovative which will contribute towards the human capital in engineering technology related industry.
  • PEO 2
    UniKL graduates who have effective leadership and team work skills as well as verbal, non-verbal and interpersonal communication skills to support their role in machine tools industry.
  • PEO 3
    UniKL graduates who are committed to the importance of lifelong learning and continuous improvement.
  • PEO 4
    UniKL graduates who practice professionalism with ethics and social responsibility.
  • PEO 5
    UniKL graduates who are capable of embarking on business and technopreneurial activities.

Programme Learning Outcomes (PLOs)

Majors in engineering technology will be able to:

  • PLO 1
    Apply knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialization to defined and applied Welding and Quality Inspection Engineering Technology procedures, processes, systems or methodologies.
  • PLO 2
    Identify, formulate, research literature and solve broadly-defined Welding and Quality Inspection Engineering Technology problems reaching substantiated conclusions using analytical tools appropriate to their discipline or area of specialization.
  • PLO 3
    Design solutions for broadly-defined welding and quality inspection problems, and to design systems, components or processes to meet specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, as well as cultural, societal, environmental and sustainability concerns.
  • PLO 4
    Conduct investigations of broadly-defined welding and quality inspection problems, locate, search and select relevant data from codes, data bases and literature, design and conduct experiments to provide valid conclusion.
  • PLO 5
    Select and apply appropriate techniques, resources and modern engineering tools including prediction and modelling, to broadly-defined Welding and Quality Inspection Technology activities, with an understanding of the limitation.
  • PLO 6
    Function effectively as an individual, and as a members or leader and in diverse technical teams.
  • PLO 7
    Communicate effectively on broadly-defined Welding and Quality Inspection Technology activities with the engineering community and with society at large, by being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations and give and receive clear instructions.
  • PLO 8
    Demonstrate understanding of the societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities and norms of engineering technology practice.
  • PLO 9
    Understand and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of engineering technology practice.
  • PLO 10
    Understand the impact of engineering solutions in a societal context and demonstrate knowledge of and the need for sustainable development.
  • PLO 11
    Demonstrate an awareness and understanding of management, business practices and technopreneurial competencies.
  • PLO 12
    Recognize the need for, and have the ability to engage in independent and lifelong learning.

Notes about fees for this course

The fees for this Bachelor amounts 19,500RM

Entry requirements

A-Level : 

Pass A Level or related in Mathematics and one (1) Science subject related to (MUEST is not needed) 

OR

Pass diploma engineering/ technology engineering (Level 4, Kerangka Qualifiations Malaysia (KKM) certified OR its equivalent with CGPA 2.00 minimum from PPT which certified by OR any related certified by Malaysia Government.

OR

Pass International Baccalaureate with at least 24/45 include Mathematics and other Science subjects (MUET not required).
