About Creative Writing, BA (Hons) - at Sheffield Hallam University

This course offers activities and strategies to develop your skills as a writer. It covers fiction and non-fiction writing including * novel writing * poetry * scriptwriting * professional writing * journalism * memoir. This course helps you develop your writing of prose, drama and verse understand more about the creative process explore the writer's view of the world You explore and extend your style from your own experience and your developing understanding of literature. We teach you best practice from some of the best writers, in person and through studying published work. You expand your resources of memory and your powers of observation. You learn to analyse texts and complementary art forms from the writer's point of view and apply the lessons learnt to your own work. You keep a writer's daybook throughout, which you submit as part of your final portfolio. We have a well-published and professional writing team. Their work includes * scriptwriting for prime time soap and drama programmes * short stories * novels * poetry. Writers are employed wherever writing is a core skill. Creative writing degrees can also lead to postgraduate study in arts and education.
