This programme covers the whole breadth of public health, encompassing high-, middle- and low-income countries. You will be able to follow a general public health course or concentrate on one of five more specific streams. The decision of which stream to follow will depend on your needs and can be discussed with the programme directors.
Compulsory modules for all students:
- Basic Statistics for Public Health & Policy
- Basic Epidemiology
- Introduction to Health Economics
- Principles of Social Research
You will also take two further modules during Term 1 from a selected list. Depending on your choice of stream, one of these may be compulsory. During Terms 2 and 3, in addition to stream-specific modules, you will be able to choose modules from a wide selection covering all aspects of public health.

The decision of which stream to follow will depend on the needs of the student and can be discussed with the Programme Directors.
In addition to the MSc Public Health, other courses at the School may be relevant to students with an interest in public health and applicants should review the pages of other courses as follows: (i) MSc Public Health for Development - for those with an interest in low-income countries; (ii) MSc Health Policy, Planning & Financing - for applicants with a particular interest in Health Policy; (iii) MSc Nutrition for Global Health - for those with an interest in nutrition.

You will complete a research project relevant to your chosen stream.
