On this BEng Engineering Design with Electrical and Electronic Engineering degree, you’ll have the opportunity to engage with industry-professionals and practitioners, as well as our working alumni. This course has been developed to mirror today’s Engineering Design industry and continues to work closely with its own Industry Advisory Board to ensure the curriculum and teaching is relevant. You’ll engage in real-world, practical activities that will prepare you for a successful career.
Location
Located just a short train ride away from London, you'll have the opportunity to explore construction project sites, and places of historical and contemporary significance. This not only broadens your horizons but also introduces you to potential clients, contacts, and future project sites.
What will I study?
The curriculum of this course focuses on core aspects such as industrial systems, analog and digital electronics, and power electronics, all within the framework of fundamental engineering principles.
Throughout your studies, you will delve into the principles, attributes, control system design criteria, and real-world applications of instrumentation and control systems employed in various industrial settings. Additionally, you will gain hands-on experience by simulating, constructing, and testing prototype circuits and systems. This practical work will involve utilizing printed circuit boards, software tools like MATLAB Simulink and LTSpice, as well as cutting-edge electronic laboratory equipment.
Our committed teaching team, brimming with industry experience, is your gateway to invaluable insider insights and a vast professional network. Industry practitioners and successful alumni also actively participate in your education by delivering guest lectures, conducting masterclasses and workshops, arranging site visits, and even contributing to the assessment of your work.
Delivered through lectures, tutorials, and studio-based work, each of the modules you study will help to build your identity and specialist knowledge as an Engineering Designer. You will also work closely with other students across a range of disciplines allowing you to experience the professional structures you will be a part of in the workplace.
