The MSc in Applied Health Research aims to provide a robust programme that enables students with an interest in developing a specific knowledge base and skill set to develop their capability to complete health sciences research. It is focused on the needs of clinicians, clinical leaders and those wishing to develop a career in applied research and will equip students with the advanced skills needed to design, implement and evaluate healthcare research. It is underpinned by the highly-ranked research expertise in the Bangor Institute of Health and Medical Research.
It is focused on the requirements of clinicians, clinical leaders, health managers and those wishing to develop a career in applied researcher and will equip students with the advanced skills required to design, implement and evaluate healthcare research which could enhance their current role by a greater understanding and capability in applied research. The programme provides a grounding in an overview of research methodologies and approaches prior to an introduction to core subject areas, including health economics and basic trial design prior to greater focus on more advanced trial design. In this way, the programme seeks to provide well-rounded education and training in the applied field of research in health sciences.
Through innovative e-learning teaching methods, the student will be provided with interactive and integrated materials and support to advance their individual knowledge and skills whilst participating in a collective form of learning with action learning facilitated by tools such as Blogs and Discussion Boards. Within the programme subject-specialist from the respective research units within the School, including Health Economics and the Clinical Trials Unit., will be involved in the teaching.
