About MA DESIGN specialising in Photography at AAS College

MA Photography at AAS explores the role of photography, one of the most powerful and persuasive forms of communication, within current society. This course, at its core, is concerned with the individual photographers’ desire to engage with his or her audience, commenting and contributing to current social, political and ideological debates.

This course requires students to engage with the process of publication. It encourages and supports them to realise their ambition to be artists in the wider public and professional arena beyond the boundaries of the course. It also emphasizes a critically driven research practice that pushes at the edge of prevailing perspectives and accepted views, both inside and outside the subject, challenging, revising and seeking fresh possibilities. It delivers a powerful balance of rigorous conceptual, critical approaches and the supported development of sophisticated practical and professional skills that together enable students to establish themselves as credible artists.
