International study in Australia is popular for many reasons, one of which is the quality of education provided by its universities. In fact, a number of Australia’s universities consistently rank high in the world university rankings. Listed below are Australia’s top ten universities:

University of Melbourne

The University of Melbourne has been around for over 160 years, and it has a reputation for being one of the leaders in research and innovation. Through the years, it has cemented itself as a top university for studies in medicine, engineering, life sciences and social sciences.

Aside from spending time in class, its students also keep busy with the university’s affiliated clubs and societies as well as its facilities such as an indoor lap pool, sports fields, libraries and cafés.

Australian National University

The Australian National University was established as the first university in the country that was primarily focused on research. It later on expanded its offerings, and today, 55% of its students are in programs for higher degree research or graduate courses.

The University consistently ranks high amongst institutions offering studies in arts and humanities as well as multiple sciences. Nature-loving students are able to appreciate the beautiful campus and facilities as well as the University’s commitment to sustainability.

University of Sydney

The country’s first university, the University of Sydney, is based in the city ranked first in Australia by the QS Best Student Cities. Its campus has been listed by multiple publications as one of the most beautiful in the world, and its students enjoy its range of facilities.

The University is well known for its commitment to research excellence and boasts 75 research centres, it is also rated highly in almost 100 academic fields.

University of Queensland

The University of Queensland is another university that consistently ranks high in world rankings due to its strong research efforts in areas of science and technology, as well as medicine.

Students and research fellows are able to use the University’s state of the art facilities like teaching hospitals, agricultural science farms and physics research stations to aid their study.

Monash University

With over 60,000 students, Monash University is the largest in Australia in terms of student body size. It is known for being a member of the M8 Alliance of Academic Health Centres, Universities and National Academies, a network that aims to improve global health as well as provides a foundation for the World Health Summit.

The University of New South Wales or (as it is more often called) UNSW Australia prides itself as a leader in research. University of Western Australia

Established in the 1910s, the University of Western Australia today is known for excelling in fields like life and agricultural sciences, psychology, education and earth and marine sciences.

The University has three main campuses where its students and the community can use facilities that range from theatres and museums to laboratories and a medical centre.

University of Adelaide

As a member of Academic Consortium 21, the University of Adelaide is one of the country’s and the world’s most research-intensive universities. It identifies its strength in various fields, including engineering and environmental sciences, physical, chemical and earth sciences as well as mathematical information and computing sciences. It has a few campuses in Australia, and it also offers degree programs in Singapore.

Macquarie University

University of Newcastle
