The Languages and Cultures of the Nordic and Baltic Sea Region programme offers students a comprehensive study opportunity to delve into the languages and cultures of the region, including Norwegian, Danish, Swedish, Finnish, Russian, Latvian, Polish, or German. With a focus on both linguistic proficiency and cross-cultural understanding, students can specialize in literary and cultural studies or (socio)linguistics, exploring thematic courses that examine socio-cultural developments in Eastern, Central, and Northern Europe.

Entry requirements

  • Proficiency in the language of the chosen specialisation (Danish/Norwegian/Swedish/Swedish/Finnish/German/Polish/Latvian/Russian) at least at B1 level according to the CEFR.
  • English language proficiency (at least B2 level according to the CEFR), as demonstrated by passing one of the international examinations: - IELTS score: 5,5+, - TOEFL score: 46+ (iBT Internet-based test) - Cambridge English exam: 160+, - Pearson PTE Academic: 59+, - LanguageCert IESOL B2, - Duolingo English Test: 95+ Or other proof of English language proficiency at B2 level according to the CEFR.

In addition, all applicants have to fulfil the general admission requirements.
