WHY STUDY PHOTONICS AND NANOTECHNOLOGY AT VILNIUS UNIVERSITY?
This study programme is devoted to students, wishing to gain an in-depth knowledge of semiconductor photonics, nanotechnologies and to master physics, fabrication and characterization techniques of organic and inorganic solid-state light sources, solar cells, sensors and hybrid devices. This programme has a proven strong track record of both successful employment of graduates in high-tech industry and their successful further PhD studies both in Lithuania and abroad.
During their studies, students are offered multiple scientific research options at the Institute of Photonics and Nanotechnology of Vilnius University, Department of Optoelectronics of the Center for Physical Sciences and Technology or other modern labs within National Center for Physical Sciences and Technology, which was opened in 2016. Cooperation with industrial partners also provides other opportunities for research work and master’s theses on case-by-case basis.
Students can participate in ERASMUS+ mobility programme or use VU’s Bilateral cooperation agreements which give an opportunity to study at VU’s Partner Universities or do internship abroad.
Graduates are able to work as researchers at universities, institutes, companies working in the field of applied sciences, innovations, electronic technologies.Graduates are able to work as researchers at universities, institutes, companies working in the field of applied sciences, innovations, electronic technologies.
Faculty of Physics of Vilnius University offers both Materials engineering (08T) and Physics (02P) third-level (PhD) studies.
