Overview

The BSc (Hons) in Social Media Marketing integrates social media marketing techniques with marketing communications and strategy. The course modules have a strong orientation towards current practices and their application in real world marketing scenarios.
Througout the course, you will engage in the application of theory to practice through various experiential learning platforms including:
  • live projects
  • field trips
  • business simulations.
Why choose this course?This honours degree aims to provide you with the latest theory and current practice in Marketing, with a particular focus on digital social media marketing techniques and skills sought by employers and businesses. You will develop the skills required to devise advance digitally based marketing solutions to real business problems.
You will also have the opportunity to take a one year industrial placement at the end of your second year, should you wish - equipping you with essential skills and industry knowledge.
Through your studies you will pursue projects to gain an in-depth understanding of appropriate techniques and detailed investigations into relevant digital and social media marketing approaches. Marketing communications analysis and stakeholder communications will underpin essential understanding of the digital marketing practices such as:
  • website development
  • social media integration
  • digital marketing campaigns
  • multi-channel campaigns
  • online advertising
  • mobile marketing strategies
  • digital analytics.

Career and study progressionThe course prepares you for a job as a social media professional.

Funding

Help with funding is available to a range of students, whether you are studying full or part-time, in your home country or overseas.

You may be eligible for a student loan to cover the cost of tuition fees or a maintenance loan to support you during your studies.   • Full Time Undergraduate Bursary: a £3,000 award for new undergraduate students.
  • Path to Success Scholarship: a £4,000 award for students on a four-year degree course with a foundation year.

Please note fees are paid for each year of study unless otherwise stated. You will be required to re-enrol and pay fees at the beginning of each academic year. Fees may be subject to government regulations on fee increases. Future inflationary increases will be applied to each subsequent year of the course, subject to government regulations on fee increases.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements

You will need 72 UCAS tariff points from Level 3 qualifications. These can include:

  • A Levels at grade B and C or D, D, D
  • BTEC Extended Diploma with Merit, Merit, Pass
  • Access to HE Diploma

You also need GCSE English and Maths (grade A*-C) or Level 2 equivalents.

If you do not hold the above qualifications but possess relevant work experience, you are invited to apply. Your application will be considered on an individual basis.

International students

International students need to meet our English language requirement at either IELTS at 6.0 or above and a minimum of 5.5 for each of the 4 individual components (Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening).
