About Doctor of Health Science, Other Doctorate - at University of Nottingham

The innovative Professional Doctorate Programme encompasses two distinct but complementary courses - the Doctor of Health Science (DHSci) open to all health professionals and a proposed Doctor of Nursing Science (DNursSci) restricted to registered nurses only.

The DHSci Professional Doctorate enables professionals from a range of disciplines to focus on a piece of in-depth research of direct relevance to their professional practice and is equivalent to a traditional PhD.

The taught component of the programme provides a structured framework of proven research training alongside the research dissertation.

During the course, you will work in collaboration with an experienced supervisor during the first two years and then a second supervisor once you have identified your research proposal (towards the end of the second year for part-time students).

The aim of this highly regarded and prestigious doctoral programme is to produce healthcare practitioners able to undertake high-quality research which will contribute to the theoretical and knowledge base of healthcare and support ongoing professional learning and development.
